Since 1964, the TBF has been a beacon of hope, providing essential assistance to those who have dedicated their lives to enriching our culture through theatre, film, radio, TV, live performances, and arts media.

What We Do
The Theatre Benevolent Fund (TBF) provides a helping hand to people in the South African arts and entertainment industry who are facing serious financial difficulties, often due to illness, old age or circumstances beyond their control.
Our aim is to offer support when someone is unable to provide for themselves and has little or no other assistance available.
Financial assistance may take different forms, depending on the individual’s circumstances. This could include contributions towards living expenses, medical care or other essential needs that may help someone through a difficult time .
Please Note: All applications are assessed according to the TBF’s rules and eligibility requirements. Assistance is not guaranteed and is subject to available funds, predetermined financial limits and approval by the Board of Trustees.
